Welcome!
Our Mission
The Illinois Alliance for Animal Owners Rights (IAAOR) is dedicated to the proposition that the final responsibility for animal care rests solely with the animal owners of the State of Illinois. Our allied goal is to protect the owner's right to pursue any humane veterinary procedure, alternative animal health care therapy, or training modality which is beneficial to the wellness or specific use of the owned animal without the threat of legal recrimination. This Alliance is committed to the task of replacing restrictive and over-broad animal health care rules and regulations with common sense, owner-friendly, statutes. By lobbying our state legislators, we intend to keep secure the exclusive right of owners to choose the best plan of care for their animal companions and livestock.
The IAAOR cannot enforce anyone to adhere to the Code of Ethics. We sincerely hope that each and every member will take them to heart and abide by these principles.
The IAAOR Code of Ethics
As an organization responsible to the community at large and to each of its member friends and colleagues, we aspire toward and hold ourselves accountable to the following broad ethical principles:
Service
The primary goal of the IAAOR is to ensure that the animal owner has the ability to choose from a wide range of mainstream and alternative animal care modalities to help fulfill his obligation to the care of his pets and livestock. We draw on our education, experience, skills and values to provide owners with alternative animal care, knowledge, assistance and indemnity from restrictive legal recrimination.
Integrity
IAAOR members behave in a trustworthy manner, aware of the organization’s mission, values, and ethical principles and work in a manner consistent with them. The membership understands that there is always a potential for public exposure when involved with a visible and active political action committee. Our public behavior therefore must be open and forthright.
Competence
IAAOR service providers practice within their areas of competence and continue to develop and enhance their professional expertise. They do not misrepresent their skills, education levels, degrees or experience to their clients. They do not abuse client privacy. IAAOR owners practice good animal husbandry at all times and do not knowingly break any of the Humane Animal Treatment Statutes of the State of Illinois.
